Plane ride
The flight to Germany takes 10.5 hours plus you advance 9 hours in time. A day passes by in the window.
Check-in at SFO was easy. I was waved through the security checkpoint despite setting off the metal detector. My backpack was X-rayed but not searched.
Don't eat the meals on United planes leaving SFO. Raid the snacks basket in the kitchen instead.
